How do I adjust the ignition timing for 190E.
The spec require about 10 plus minus 2
degree but the current reading is at about
7-8 degree. I try to turn the distribution
cap but not change in timing at all.
Is this timing must be set by computer ?

Is the fuel mixture adjustable manually or
must it done by a computer as well ?.
What is the recommended CO level for
optimun performance ?

Assuming this is a 2.3. The timming I think can be set by turning the distributor. The fuel mixture can be changed by turning the 3mm allen bolt in the lambda tower under the air cleaner housing. You will need a lambda meter to do this. The Normal operating range for this assuming it is a 2.3 will flucuate because it has an electromagnetic clutch on the engine coolant fan that engages at about 100c-105c and turns off at about 80c.

Sorry, My 190E is 1997cc (1988 model), when I try to turn the distributor, there isn;t any change in timing at all. Any idea what went wrong ?

BTW, I live in a hot country and would like
to change electromagnet fan switch to
engange the fan at about 84C. Currently
the engine temp is more that 100c when
traffic jam and I am worry that the engine may get overheated. Any comment ?

The timing cannot be changed on this & newer 190E 2.3's. The engine was designed to run at high temps(100 c.), are you having some type of overheating problem?
The fuel mixture is controlled by a computer & has a base setting, after that the oxygen sensor takes over & sends signals to the computer for mixture control except at full throttle.

The ignition timing cannot be change ? then
how do I know the timing is optimun ? the car
spec stated timing should be about 10 degree.
The max engine temperature is about 105-110c, and I am not sure is that ok for the engine.
