Is your switch an original MB? Or is it an aftermarket part?

When I had this problem on my 124, the defective MB switch worked better than the new Febi I tried to replace it with. Got an original MB part and all problems disappeared. (As I said earlier, the ohmic switches are quirky and you need the original to make sure it works.)

Yeah it's oem. It definitely is working properly now, the old switch would start the car in park or neutral. With the new switch you'll only here the starter click in Park when it doesn't start.

hello,

Very good description of the replacement of the safety switch on e320 1995.

Here's my two cents worth!

When installing the the switch the hardest part was installing the 1'clock bolt.

The hole you cannot see, and its also set back. what i did was add a piece of plastic tube to the head bolt head giving it some length so it can be position into the hole, worked great, still not that easy though?
Very difficult job because of the tight space, the description herein helped tremendously.

Hello!
I’m gonna “switch” the problem around…
So I change my NSS, because I was getting intermittent starts and solved them for a while with the bypassed connector close to the accelerator pedal…
Once I changed it now the car starts in all gear selector positions…some how is like the NSS is still bypassed…
