What is the recommended procedure for adding oil to the fuel injection pump? I see where to put it in at, but no indication as to how full to fill it. Thank you.

Every time you check the valve adjustment you should TOP-UP the pump. The correct level can be found by removing the plug on the lower portion of the pump. Most of the time you thing the pump is full, but usually you are seeing diesel fuel.

I asked Hans about this...Hans is a factory trained Mercedes meister engineer. He said you should never have to check this if the car is a later model than the 220D. All the later pumps are fed oil from the engine and back out again.
