02 SLK320 disable ABS

I am doing exhibitional driving and cannot have ABS. I was told all I have to do is pull the fuse to disarm ABS. Will I still have a speedometer and will it still shift and run right. Car is not going to be on the highway. I have request in all over and nobody has any answers...yet. Everyone is betting that this is something that we will not get the answer about but we will find it one way or another.

One of the problems on newer MB is that many systems tie together.

There is a way to bypass ASR when the car is used on a dyno and I think there is a bypass for ABS as well. This bypass is accessed through the 38 pin under hood connector if you still have one in 2002. I don't know the pin numbers.

Pulling the ABS fuse would shut it off but it might require a scan tool to reset the code. Unplugging the ABS pump and / or ABS computer would work too but might set a code in another control box. In short, there isn't any to know until someone tries it or finds an obscure reference in the service manual.

Try the performance section of this site and be sure to post the solution here as well.

I would expect you have an "ESP off" switch I the console.

Here's my 2 cents worth....when the ABS pump on my 2001 SLK230 wouldn't stop running, even with the key off, I disconnected the wiring at the fuse connection on the passenger side to shut it off. I drove the car for a couple of weeks until I could find an ABS Module replacement.

In my opinion, the car ran and shifted the same, and the brakes worked good. The ABS light stayed on and I didn't have ABS brakes.
I really couldn't tell any difference in overall performance and braking.
