R107 -Drain P/S Fluid from bolt on bottom of steering box?
Is that the right place? I think you have to turn it to lock. Can someone confirm?

Steve;
If I ever replace that fluid, I always remove the return hose at the pump, direct it into a container (old milk jug would be large enough), then start the engine and turn the whhel lock to lock. The return line is the one which is secured with a hose clamp. The pressure line is the one with the crimped on connector. Gilly |
Thank you Gilly.
That sounds like the way to go but is the bolt a drain plug? Why not use that one? If you can, please let me know. I won't do the job until the middle of next week.

Steve, I believe what you are looking at is a bolt that would be removed to insert a centering tool. The tool holds the steering box in a wheels-centered position when installing the steering gear box, when you connect the steering shaft to the box with the steering wheel centered.

Thanks Gilly, for your explanation.
Thank you for letting me know. It is good to know about the car.
