1973 450SL RPM gauge isnt working

You may have a dead capacitor in the tachometer gauge itself. I've worked on quite a few units of that age and most of them were in fact dead. It would not surprise me if yours was like that too.
I'd be happy to take a look at your gauge if you'd like. |

8bender you need to PM JamesDean and he will respond with how to go about it and the cost of the repairs. The cluster on my '87 300d is going to him this week for a repair of the odometer and needle refresh. Not sure how you pull the cluster on 450sl, but there's a tutorial on Pelican for all 124 models. There maybe one for yours. I also spent the $20 to buy the MB cluster puller tool....two glorified coat hangers.....but they worked great. The cluster pulled right out with alittle fiddling.
