W210, E430, LOW MILES, WHY ARE THEY SO CHEAP?
I LIVE IN THE ATLANTA METRO, JUST PURCHASED A MINT 1999 E300 TURBO DIESEL.... NOW I'M LOOKING TO PURCHASE A MERCEDES GAS POWERED VEHICLE.
I HAVE RESEARCHED AND C CLASS IS JUST TOO SMALL FOR ME AND MY FAMILY SO THEY ARE NOT AN OPTION. LOOKS LIKE PRACTICALLY EVERY BENZ BUILT BETWEEN 2000 AND 2005 HAD LOTS OF VERY EXPENSIVE PROBLEMS, WITH THE EXCEPTION OF THE CDI (WHICH I CANNOT FIND IN THE 6K RANGE) AND THE 2000-2002 W210S. I'M FINDING 2002 E430 AND E320 MODELS WITH FAIRLY LOW MILES (125K) AND IN WHAT APPEARS TO BE GREAT CONDITION FOR ANYWHERE FROM 3K TO 4K. THAT SAID, I WAS WONDERING WHY THE PRICES ARE SO LOW, AS I HAVE NOTICED LOW PRICES ON THE EARLY W211 MODELS WHICH APPEAR TO BE JUNK SO THE LOW W210 PRICES ARE MAKING ME LEARY... ANY ADVICE WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED |
First, please stop typing in all caps. You've been a member since 2001.

I figured it's easier to read

The cars are old. Good deals for DIYers.
|
The w210s have severe rust issues. Transplanted vehicles from rust belt areas should be very cheap.
|
.......and when you type in all caps, most people take that as SHOUTING.

They are bargains if you find the right one. Look for no rust and transmission service. If those are good, you minimize your risk of most major repairs (of course you still need a good PPI).
|
Cause they are old.
But for a DIY'er they are a good value. |
Because they're 'gassers,' that's why. :D
|
Because the front spring mounts will rust off and kill you.
|
Sorry guys, just bought a 2006 E320 CDI! :-)
|
Older cars are cheap because of sub prime auto loans for new cars, 7 - 8 year loan terms and cheaper new cars.
