SRS dilimma E320 W210 OBDII /38 pin connector
 

Does anyone actually know what scanner is used for finding and erasing trouble codes in airbag and SRS systems (after repair is made)?
It is usually passenger child seat sensor pad causing the problem.
I definitely will Junk this POS car before letting a dealer rob me.
I bought an Autel 619 $140 and tried the OBDII method which didn't work and returned it maybe needed a 38 pin adapter?
Now ordered a Carsoft 7.4 multiplexer $49 and to find out works on older laptops with R232 connection with Windows XP and not on USB with windows 7 or will need special adapters and programs and still may not work.
If you are one of those "Know it Alls" who hasn't actually experienced or resolved this, you are not needed here.
I will try to DIY this problem and post when it is solved.

The Carsoft 7.4 will work on 38 pin connector if you have old desktop tower windows xp will work. I have one setup in garage and works on all modules on w210.

What about on a Windows 7 with a USB connector? there is not a 9 pin RS232
on my PC. and were you able to find and clear SRS codes?

You need USB-RS232 cable you'll get false info plus it wont work on windows 7 alone, need to download virtual machine windows xp its like another PC on laptop, change ports around has to be Port 1, I've tried it on my laptop it reads with some errors . Works better on old pc with rs232. You can try the USB-RS232 cable costs $10-$20 can't remember how much I paid.
Yes you can read and clear any code CEL,trans, srs, cluster, HVAC, body codes.
Last month my daughter got in fender bender 2000 e320 side airbags and side curtain deployed replaced them used, cleared codes SRS light went away.

I will try that when my Carsoft 7.4 multiplexer and RS232 USB cable arrives.
I know it will be a challenge to get it to adapt.
I will post again the results and all the steps taken to do this.

Just received yesterday my Carsoft 7.4 Multiplexer with all cables and a software disk.
also bought an older Dell laptop with windows XP and Rs232 connection.
Tried to install the Carsoft 7.4 software disk, and get error codes in German when trying to
install files.
Has anyone had this problem? and how were you able to finally use your multiplexer?

Its been at least 8 years since installing the software from memory I think copied the files from the disk to the hard drive then installing them. There where instructions on the file step by step, at first it was asking for registration number. After performing step by step instructions it started working.

The disk I have is Made in China.
I get to the point where I copy and paste to the hard drive, but when I try to
start loading step 1, an error will come up in German, and will not continue.
Must have a virus.
Did you order yours from a China company?

Dealers charge 0.3-0.5 hours to check and clear codes. My shop does it for local indies and body shops all the time......

Yes it came from China.
Nothing came up in German. Before buying I read that there is some that have virus. Have you tried finding software from internet with out a virus?

I think you are right, and after all attempts will probably end up downloading internet software.
(There is no hurry. Its my Mom In-laws car and soon as I get it thru inspection She'll be blocking my 240D in the driveway)
