My first time finding your site--terrific! 20+yr mb, bmw, porsche geek. Bouht a 94 c280 for my wife to drive. Has a horrible oil leak, looks like from the back of the cylinder head. My independent MB mechanic tells me that MB is aware of this and may repair at some, if not all, cost. Car has about 60k and perfect service book AT MB DEALER. Suggestions appreciated. TIA. allen

It is most likely the head gasket and I have done MANY MANY of them on this engine. Yes Mercedes is aware they have a huge problem with this. Your extended warranty will pay for this if you have one. If not, put on the boxing gloves and go to the dealer. They may help you out somewhat, but my experience is if it is more than 2 or 3k out of warranty, they usually don't help much. TOYOTA HAD THE SAME PROBLEM AND TOOK CARE OF IT FOR OVER 100K. GO FIGURE. (I HOPE SOMEONE FROM MERCEDES READS THIS)
