'01 W210 AWD front shocks
 

I have searched the threads for anything related to this project. I have read that...spring removal is required, and it's dangerous. I have done significant work on my cars, but as I get older, I'm taking on fewer big jobs. So now, I'm looking to have my INDY do the work. Who has had their INDY do the work and what was the cost? I understand Bilstiens were factory installed. Is that correct? Who can tell me more? Thanks! :beerchug:

I tackled this job last year on my W210 wagon. The spring has to be removed and there is a special compression tool you can use if you want to do it right or just support the bottom of the arm with something suitable and release the tension slowly. If its a 4Matic, it will be somewhat easier with the front axles removed

While you are in there, check the condition of the Ball Joints, Sway bar bushings, upper and lower control arm bushings and engine mounts. For the driver side mount, it is easier to replace it with the axle, spring and shock out of the way which is why I mentioned it

Two560Two, thanks for the tips, but I'm not taking it on. I just hope someone will post a dollar figure for Indy work. Really need something for comparison.

I guess NO ONE has ever paid an INDY shop to replace their shocks on a W210 w/4Matic.

This isn't an easy job on he 4-matic. Even with a lift, air tools and the right spring tools, we find this a little easier and safer with four hands on it. I would expect to pay at least 3 1/2 to 4 hours of labor.
