idle control valve
 

Can anyone tell me where I might find the idle control valve? I have an E220 which isn't sold in the States, but I'm hoping this part is located in generally the same area in most engines.

I believe this part can be cleaned out which I am hoping will solve my problem. My car 's idle speed fluctuates up and down for a few seconds once the car pulls to a halt. The car even moves unless you press the brake pedal hard. After a few seconds, it idles perfectly. Other than that it starts easily hot or cold and idles nicely unless coming to a halt.

I have already replaced the OVP.

That is just like the engine in OUR C220. These cars use a THROTTLE actuator instead of an idle valve.
So try cleaning the throttle butterfly on the intake as it is part of the actuator.

I had the same problem with my '85 500SL. Wound up having to replace both the OVP and the Climate Control Unit. Don't ask me what the connection was between the two, because I don't know. However, I think it was more the CCU than the OVP, but I replaced the OVP because I'd had three or four electrical componets go bad. All is working well now.

MB DOC - is it ok just to spray carb cleaner down there on the "open" throttle butterfly. During the gasket replacement on my E320 it looks like it is probably the time to do it.

Can I use a carb cleaner spray to clean the valve? I guess so long as the engine isn't running eh?

Any specific procedures to do this?
