where is the ADS fluid and how to bleed it
I am rebuilding a 1994 SL500, I removed the ADS valve block to remove and replace the coils, Now I can not figure out where the new fluid goes and how to bleed the system. Can anyone help?
Thanks ED |
There are some owners manuals on line, info should be in there.
I "think" the power steering pump has a 2nd section for the ADS and may share fluid. Look at the PS pump, a pressure and return line will go the the steering gear. If there are two more lines at the PS pump, that would be the ADS. |
Yes, it is in the power steering pump. There is a filter there also. Be sure you use only MB hydraulic fluid, Been there done that on two different CL's

On the leveling valve in the front there is a 5mm (maybe 4) allen setscrew with a locking nut on it on the rear side. Engine running loosen that setscrew just a smidge to bleed the valve. I don't recall if the rear valve needs to be bled after the front, its been a long time. If it doesn't come up in the rear the rear level valve has a bleeder nipple similar to a brake caliper, engine running of course.

Thanks for the help. I will try it tonight after work, I am picking up a new filter at the dealer also.
