1994(5) vs 1997 E420

Hey folks,
I am at a crossroads. I love the look of the 1997. Especially the front headlights, but I am used to my MB driving like the "king of the road"..from the 300sd to the 560sl..they drive like MB. I have been reading that the 97 e420 drives more like a honda with ALOT of pep and the older ones drive like the classic benz with lotss of power.

Please post your comments so I can begin to make up my mind.

Thanks!

I agree that the W210's drive more like an Acura or a Lexus than MB's of old.

The steering is much, much lighter, and so is the accelerator pedal input. The pedal feel is very light and less linear, with a lot of tip-in.

My mother has a 1999 E430, and I have to admit that I enjoy driving it very much. It's also nice having a cupholder.

My advice is to drive one of each. Nothing replaces a seat of the pants drive.

Oh, the W124's also have recirculating ball, not rack and pinion like the W210's.

Thanks Sugi and by the way..Happy Birthday! I think I noticed your name on the birthday list yesterday.

I will do my best to try out each of these cars. I have not made up my mind if I wan't to spend 20-25k on the used 420..something is telling me wait for a later model and drive a 95 for awhile. (because as I see these beautiful cars MB is manufacturing I know I will want another one in 3-5years).

Again many thanks for everybody's thoughts.
