W210 (2001) exterior door handle lock/is sensor loose

Hopefully just looking for confirmation. The w210 drivers door did not shut latch when it got closed, looks like the or sensor part of the exterior handle assembly is loose (pushing lock assembly back in allowed door to close and latch). Did not find the same issue using search, but did find that there appears to be a 4mm Allen fitting under the weatherstripping that holds this part in place. Screw sounds like it should be captive, so just pop the weatherstrip in the morning and tighten things up should solve it?

If there is likely more involved chine in.
Thanks
Paul

The screw is semi captive, I've had one fall out when getting parts at the salvage yard. In any event, the allen is what tightens everything up.

Thanks , just checked it out now. Looks like whoever got in there before screwed things up. Screw there now is Philips and does not tighten, will snug but spins which indicates it is the wrong thread. Will work for now but I'll pick up a few metric Allen screws and disassemble the whole thing in the next week or two, may need to re-tap etc for a proper fix.

Definitely looks like a "there I fixed it!" Duct tape type fix previous owner or service place used.
At least it will not dangle now.
Thanks
Paul

A phillips of the proper thread would work just fine. The factory likely used an allen because it does not need any / much axial force to keep the driver bit engaged like a phillips would.

The sensor is what the allen is threading into, these threads could be stripped or the screw too short. Once you remove the screw, the sensor can be unplugged leaving the door handle attached to the door.
