Ignition Key Removal

Okay, this is an odd one (I think).
1994 S500, 109k miles, and I turn the car off today, and go to remove the key. It turns "almost" all the way CC, not quite as far as it usually does, and it won't release the key.
I twist it, turn it, push, pull, etc., and that key is just NOT coming out.
Please, what just happened, and how do I fix it??
There is a sense on urgency on my part because I REALLY don't like my car sitting outside right now with the key hanging in the ignition.... :-(
Thanks,
Barry

Okay, this proves it....... I AM losing my mind.......
That was it. I put it in "neutral", and not "park".
Sometimes I scare myself....... :-)

Crisis averted!!!
That was easy. Thanks!!!
