Power steering pump swap

It time to do something about the leaky pump on my 190DT. Sure, I can install a gasket kit But as it happens, I have a rebuilt pump from a 2.6 190e sitting on the shelf. Physically it's the same pump, but set up for 85psi output, as opposed to the 2.5 pump's 68 psi. Anyone done this? Thoughts?

Quite a common thing to do in the W123 / W126 world. The steering boxes are strong enough to take the extra pressure. I can't think of a single time when people said this "upgrade" caused problems with the W123 / W126 situation.

So based on the older breed - I say give it a go. It should come good

Did the swap today. And to my surprise, the original pump may have been swapped at some point in the distant past...it was an 85psi pump! So all is well. It looks beautiful and works great.
