Nice spring weekend: 83 240D Wheel Bearings-Replacement how hard?

I've got to do my front wheel bearings this weekend. Ive done them before on other cars, but I've never done them on a Mercedes. I am worried specifically about getting the bearing race out--any special tools, ideas or techniques? Usually I can get them out with a Brass Bar or Punch easily--but----?

Also how many hours for an amateur to replace front wheel bearings and engine mounts?

I have done a clean and repack in about an hour. The races were fine on mine but did not seem substantially different from a boat trailers in setup and design which I've changed without problem.

Good Luck.

I would suggest just inspecting and cleaning the races. Replace the bearings if they look like they have been overheated. They are available from local bearing supply houses. I always go back in and check the clearance in the bearing after about a week or so if I replace them.
