Disable seatbelt buzzer while maintaining red light in dome lamp?
I'm looking for a way to disable the seatbelt warning buzzer but leave the red seatbelt light that's in the dome lamp functional, which I think looks kinda cool. The car is a 1992 W201.
I don't want to remove the buzzer because I do like the lights on and keys left in the ignition warning. |

There is a small plug under the front of the driver's seat with a black and a green/black pair of wires leading to S68/1 in the driver's seat buckle. Those leads are connected when the seatbelt is unbuckled, buckling the seatbelt opens the connection.
Unplugging the small plug should prevent the seatbelt from triggering the buzzer. The seatbelt warning light only works off a timer, so that should still work for you. Keep in mind the buzzer still should work with the key in the ignition by S8/2 and with the lights on. Ground is supplied those two items is supplied from the left front door when open by S17/3. When the ignition key is in the 2 or 3 position power goes to the buzzer controller to cancel only those two items. Bottom line: try unplugging the small plug under the front of the driver's seat. Let us know if this works.

Thanks for the response. Is there a photo anywhere of the plug I'm looking for. I hate to seem inept, but I can't find it. All the wires I see go into the seat for the motors, and I didn't see any wires going to the buckle.

Allow me to qualify my responses. I am going off the W201 wiring diagrams only. My experience is with the W124 and W126. So, I reserve the right to be wrong.
Nevertheless, try this link: Mercedes W201 190 E D Left Driver Front Seat Belt Receiver Catch Receptacle | eBay

Thanks for the pic. I'll look for that plug tomorrow when there is more ambient light.
I have another question but it's non-related: Do you know the color code for the cladding on that white W124 in your sig photo? I've searched around but can't find it. I'd like to buy some touchup paint for a few chips on my lower bumper. |
