Remove stuck bolts; Oxy or MAP Gas torch?
I'm using PB blaster but a stubborn 19mm caliper bolt doesn't want to budge, even when using a long breaker bar!

Whichever one you have handy could work. Not everybody has a oxi torch in the workshop but anybody can get their hands on a map gas. Nothing like the good ole blue wrench to free a stuck bolt.

purchased Map gas rig from Home Depot, now what?
I purchased the TS8000KC premium torch kit from Home Depot. Since I have never used a MAP gas torch to loosen brake caliper bolts, I have two questions:
1. How close to the caliper bolt should I hold the torch? and... 2. How long should I hold the torch on the caliper bolt? I just use a Bernz o matic handheld torch. You need to get th bolt red hot. Then let it cool to let it contract slightly. Sometimes you need multiple heating and cooling cycles to get it to break loose.

Its tight because those bolts come with locktite type sealant on bolt just warm up the bolt till its hot 200-300 degrees it will come loose

I do not own an infrared thermostat gun. So how long should I heat the bolt up to get the bolt to 200 to 300 degrees?

Back several hundred years ago, there was a french scientist who said he did his best thinking in bed. After feeling like I was dealing with the caliper bolts from h*ll, I decided to give it a break and lay down for a quick nap. An idea came; take the bar/handle off my Sears 3 ton floor jack and use it as an extension on the breaker bar.
The lower caliper bolt came right out! Then, I had to get a bit creative and turn the front tires all the way to the left so that I could leverage the breaker bar on the top caliper bolt. Using the Sears floor jack handle as additional leverage, the top bolt came right out! GREAT, however, it appears one of the pistons is frozen in the caliper....... |
use a 6 point socket,and breaker bar.Use a jack on the breaker bar end,to turn bolt.
