Interstate H8 Batteries From Costco

The once popular Kirkland brand is no longer available at Costco, replaced with Interstate brand. I realize that Interstate may have actually made or distributed the now defunct Kirkland brand.

I see size H8 available for my W126 gas car. Could be used instead of a Group 49 or Group 93 battery.

Has anyone had experience with these Costco/Interstate H8 batteries they would care to share?

Thanks for your time.

I don't know a lot about the brand's and it might be just opinion but I have had the best luck with interstate batteries of all types. And always use them.

They are made by Johnson Controls, same as the Kirkland were. There are only a few companies making batteries in the US and they label them for all the brands. The manufacturers I know of are Johnson Controls, US Battery, and Trojan. There may be others. Just about any battery you buy will be one of those 3 with the majority being Johnson. No EPA or OSHA to deal with in Mehico. Lead acid battery manufacturing no problem just pay the workers better than three dollars an hour and do what you want to the workers and environment.

Went to the Interstate WEB site and asked a question about this Costco/Interstate thing. Below you'll see my question and their reply:

Question:

Costco carries a brand with your name on it. Are these car batteries made by Johnson Controls in Mexico?

Answer:

It would totally depend on which battery you are using. Yes, Johnson Controls makes the batteries and most of the batteries are made in the US, but the poly casing is made in Mexico. Hope that helps.

Johnson Controls' world headquarters is 50 miles from me (at least it was, until they pulled a corporate shuffle to move it to Ireland). But I've changed brand loyalty to batteries made by East Penn.

H8 = G49, same size but with different coding.

This is the factory size for your 300SEL... and mine. :)
