2000 S430 Electrical Problem
HELP!!!! I need help to find a solution to this problem. I think a controller or something else has gone bad.
No electric windows, no locks, no seat control, no rear headrest, no rear blind, no A/C controller, ABS light is on, cluster is giving all kinds of warnings, airmatic pump is on all time. I have checked all the fuses in the three fuse boxes. Could it be ignition switch? HELP Howard Berman 2000 S430 this is the car 1981 380SL My toy 2000 S500 needs a few things not being used now. Hmmmmmm.............ABS doesn't use interior CAN which would be the affected network if a DCM failed. HMB also says several other warning messages are displayed at the ICM, which are usually engine CAN related. I'd suggest taking a look beneath the R/R seat and check for water at the rear SAM. W220's are notorious for clogged reed valves which allows rain water to enter the cabin via the fresh air door, eventually working it's way to the SAM. It only takes a minute to remove the rear seat bench so there's nothing to lose.
If everything is dry I'd suggest running a scan with SDS. That should help narrow down the list of suspects pretty quickly........... |

Looked under back seat. No indication of water, also looked at the area under the pass feet. Everything has voltage. If a DCM were bad what would not work? I can get these from my S500 that was totaled.

Check your battery voltage with a voltmeter. Should be around 12.75 volts with the car off.
If the battery voltage is low (like 11, 10 volts), check your charging system. Start the car and that battery voltage should go up to 13/14 volts. A low battery voltage can cause weird things to happen with all these new computers! |
