Lemforder Engine mount made in China
I just bought a pair of Lemforder engine mounts for my 190E 2.6 to 3.0L M103 swap and discovered they are made in China. Part number 124 240 19 17. I'm thinking about sending them back. No markings on them indicate they are Lemforder (no logo or anything), they look just like other aftermarket mounts with the ridged top instead of the smooth top (contrary to the pictures when I ordered them). They were in clearance for $35 each. I've use this site (not Pelican Parts) quite often in the past year or so because the prices are far cheaper than anyone else and never had any issues so I'm going to email their customer service to see if there is anything that they can do for me in terms of a refund. Otherwise I will be a guinea pig and test them, they are not hard to change.

They are the original OEM ones off of my parts car and completely flattened. Did Boge make the original mounts for the M103 or was it Corteco? |
I think Corteco is the original manufacturer.

I read something interesting about black friday.
You fight thru lines,to buy crap made by some prisoner in China paid 10 cents an hour, profitt made by american company. With money loaned to you by your government with interest,to give and tell someone you love them. |
and then, depression sets in.....happy holidays, one and all:(

Well this is a first seeing Lemfoerder making crap in China...great...
I would return it. Speak with our wallets we dont want chinese junk. |
Stop bellyaching and install it.
Every manufacturer on the planet has plants in China, doesn't mean anything. |
Guess when its time I'll make solid mounts, and lower my idle to shake the car.
|
Word from ZF is these are legit. I will install them and report back if I have any issues.
|
That would bug me. I'd probably return them on principle. I just bought some Lemforder W210 mounts and they were made in Germany. Must be the low-volume stuff is being farmed out to China. I bet they are not making or selling all that many W201 mounts anymore these days compared to the newer vehicles. My W126 Lemforder mounts I just bought recently were from Turkey (as they have been for a long time).

Well, my first clue was your statement: "site (not Pelican Parts) quite often in the past year or so because the prices are far cheaper than anyone else and never had any issues so I'm going to email their customer service...." Why in the hell did you think the prices are so cheap? Stick with Pelican Parts, ********az, German Auto, etc., or buy a Honda. Mercedes are not junk cars and the only thing I order Chinese is "take out"!

ZF now sells the Boge mounts as Boge, they are no longer repackaged as Lemforder like the first set of these mounts I got 2 years ago were nor do they sell these Chinese-made mounts anymore. This website and Pelican clearanced the remaining stock they had of these but Pelican had them for $10 more each than my other website. Again, you get the same parts here as you do on my website. I have never used crap parts on my car and I don't think Chinese parts from reputable manufacturers is a real concern. You might as well go buy a Honda yourself if you are concerned about Chinese parts, more and more of these replacement parts will be made in China in coming years. |
Did you buy them from Rock Auto? I have found their 'branded' items nothing other than bull****... stuff is cheap there for a reason.
