Vacuum hose to nowhere...

...so it looks

Going through all the vacuum lines and connectors I found this valve under the exhaust manifold, does there need to be a hose on the other side of the valve or is this correct?

Being in California it looks something I need, right? The car came original from New Jersey, but has passed smog in CA by the po who sold it me.

You need # 159 in the diagram to connect it to the pipe feeding into the engine.

Pick your part it is. Is this more for CA cosmetics and does it effect performance? weird that it passed smog before.

It apparently injects air into the exhaust during the first few minutes of start up. The extra air helps to raise temps in the exhaust faster and burn up the unburned fuel. Can't remember where I read that at, but it makes sense. Interesting that it doesn't run all the time as the extra air injected into the exhaust would lower emissions output IMO. I have it on my car as well, but my car is also registered in a part of California where there are no smog laws so I'm exempt. Do you know if you have any error codes? In particular code 11 which is secondary air injection code.

There are parts exempt in California, didn't know that? I'm not sure about error codes. I do have some more hurdles to tackle before I can smog it, Idle is way to high in park.

Blythe, Ca or El Centro, Ca. is what's closest to me, maybe about an hour. You may have a vacuum leak somewhere....But if it passed smog from PO, what hurdles do you have to do other than high idle? Best to just get the hose and connect it to where it needs to go on the air check valve for the visual test and then do smog before messing with it. I remember I was in a battle for about a year trying to pass smog. I still have the error code 11 and I remember posting about it several years ago on here.
