W124 Steering Wheels

1993 W124 pre-facelift 320CE

My leather wheel has become uber tatty so definitely needs replacing, I have read that many wheels will fit straight on but also have read conflicting advice regarding contact rings.

I believe my contact ring is compatible with most wheels from '92-'99. Does anyone have a definitive source of which wheels I can use?

I have a 210 wheel on my 124. No issues.

Steering wheels in 124's changed from slip rings to the "clock spring" style in MY94 so if installing a newer one you might have to change more than just the steering wheel.

Will an MB pre-94 wheel fit my 88 W124?

1st pic is 1988, 2nd pic is 1992 wheel.

Will fit but the air bag will also need to be changed as it is a different shape starting MY92.
The leather wheel is much nicer than those awful plastic ones if you can find a good one.

In case you cannot find the wheel you want, I found the Wheelskin leather wheel cover to be quite nice. It was time consuming to install; but, probably the best wheel cover I've ever seen. It lasted a very long time, felt and looked excellent. Would have preferred a new wheel but was absolutely content with this cover.

Good luck!!!
