W124 Coupe Roof Rails
I have tracked down a leak in my W124 Coupe to the top corner around the front screen. As well as the leak in the image, there is also water running along the pillar on the inside of the screen to the bonnet/hood release lever and into the footwell.
It looks like the rubber underneath the roof rail may have a hole in it, I'm not sure if this is the culprit or perhaps the seal at the top of the screen itself. Does the roof rubber play a part in sealing anything or is it just something to lay the metal strip onto? post img |

You need to have your windshield replaced or resealed, usually it cant be removed without cracking it

sometimes a sun roof drain will clog up too. They are cheaper metal and can rust out.My w140 has this problem,I will later run a new poly tubing down both drains with 50 year silicon

Thanks for the advice, I will try the sunroof drains first and see what happens.

My 85 Coupe leaks like a mofo. I am convinced that its the forward sunroof drain tubes. At some point I am going to remove the headliner and replace them. That "some point" is when I figure out how to remove it without trashing it, or any other part of the car.
Does anyone know of a decent thread for w123 headliner removal? I have stumbled across references and a little bit of info, but not enough yet. THanks. |
