That's a great question! Seems like most ads make some sort of a deal out of the fact that it has the third row seat but I've never seen one without it. So, I can't say for sure but if I would care to guess, I'd say they came with them as a standard feature.

Somebody feel free to correct me

x2. I've never seen a US spec T124 without the third row. As with the T123, you can retrofit the third row from a donor T124. Don't pass up a diamond of a T124 without the third row unless you need it on your drive home.

I also had an 87 wagon that didn't have a third seat. There was a covered storage compartment where the seat would have been.

Does the 124 have a single panel cover when there's no third row?

It's a sheet metal cover with a matching capet facing, where the seat bottom would be. One panel, hinged at the front. The compartment is maybe five or six inches deep.

No 3rd seat on the one we looked at today, no sign it ever had one. Ole car was cheap, but a mess. Maybe next time.

A quick way to see if a S124 is equipped with a third row seat from an advertisement picture is to look for the seatbelt just behind the "C" pillar. Most pictures will show that, or the absence of it. Retrofitting is easy with a proper donor.
