Post 8 speaks of grease coming out of the bearings seal, this is normal to some extent.

The bearings seal is more of a thin rubber flap that will let an initial amount of grease out then a slow leakage over the life of the bearing.

Ball bearings are not packed full and the fill ratio depends on how fast it spins in use. The faster a bearing spins the less grease volume that can be tolerated.

I found the bracket at MBoemparts.com for $170
I'm sure my local dealer would want more than that for a reconditioned one, but I'll check with them also. It's not cheap but the noise it's making is driving me crazy.

Pelican has our fan bracket 104 200 1328 for around $60: https://www.pelicanparts.com/More_Info/1042001328M253.htm?pn=104-200-13-28-M253&bt=Y&fs=0&SVSVSI=3744

We sell about 60 annually and haven't had any complaints, and it's covered by our two-year, unlimited mileage warranty.

I think that’s what I put on my car. Money was tight. So far no issues. If I had the money I would’ve put a mb part on

A previous owner installed a Febi fan bracket (stamped "Made in Germany") which failed in 4 years / 40kmi. Photo attached. Depends how often you want to repeat this job. I replaced it with OE/dealer and never had a problem since. Click here for additional photos.

Also - if you do not apply anaerobic sealant on the bolt threads during installation as specified in the FSM (click here), you WILL have an oil leak. The "pro" shop that installed the Febi did not use sealant and it was leaking oil (easy to tell, the bolt threads will be coated with engine oil). The oil leak was cured when I installed the new bracket with correct sealant on the bolts.

YMMV, etc.

See the link to Pelican's online catalog in our post? Considering they pay the bills that keep the lights on in this forum, Pelican certainly appreciates anyone who encourages buying from their store instead of the competition.

We're happy to help forum DIY'ers find the parts they need on Pelican's web site, which supports the forum and is thus good for everyone involved.

Why is it bad that URO is telling people to buy parts from the owner of this site?

When I say " this site " I mean the owner of this message board. Peach Parts = Pelican Parts.

I wouldn’t say it’s a huge labor job.. changing the fan pulley bracket is maybe 30 minutes working at a snail pace. I’ve changed a lot of mb parts that failed way too early due to inherent problems so I’m open to anything that might work better for cheaper.

That can be a challenge these days, even with Genuine Mercedes-Benz parts.

URO , don't mind our guy, he is mad at the world.

Besides, he would be the first person to buy cheap parts rather than factory parts.
