dial indicator placement

good afternoon,

Currently gathering repair guides for my 190e 2.3-16v and I am a bit confused as to where I should you put the magnetic base of dial indicator during tightening of free play of front wheel bearings.

I browsed the articles in the forum and googled the matter and there are 2 areas suggested:
1. on the caliper
2. on the rotor.

so where should you place the dial indicator base to get the more accurate reading?

Thanks

Mounting on the caliper only works for fixed calipers and not the floating design used on your car.

Remember to tightly bolt the rotor to the wheel hub with at least 3 bolts.
