380SL: Aircon and Fuel gauge
Hey gents,
Finally got delivery of my car today. My heart sank when I noticed a some problems with it that were not disclosed in the original ebay ad. Lesson learned, i'll never do that again. 1. Air condition doesn't work. No air was blowing either. 2. Fuel gauge sits on the far left like the tank is empty (tank is full). 3. Various electrical gadgets weren't working, lights off. 4. Tripometer doesn't work. Not particularly urgent, but with the fuel gauge not working this makes guessing fuel capacity difficult. I got the car late at night. So I took a look at the fuse box. None of the fuses looked visibly broken, but for good measure I decided to reseat a few fuses of which the numbers of which ones I did escape me. Immediately I had some luck with various electrical gadgets starting to work again (antenna, interior lights) which leads me to believe that the fuses are what's causing it. The blower which wasn't blowing started blowing which was something I didn't notice initially when I started the car. Tomorrow, i'm going to buy a bunch of the fuses and some contact cleaner and see if that fixes it. The previous owner claims the AC was completely replaced recently and to be honest I would not have purchased the car if it didn't work. Is it possible that these bad fuses are affecting the AC and the fuel gauge? I don't have any of my tools for the next two weeks so I can't do any major work on it until then. In short, i'm a little miffed because I spent a great deal of money on this car with the promise that it was mechanically like new. Had I knew that there were issues, I would have moved on but I don't have any cash budgeted for a big repair like the AC. Thanks for the help guys.

So got a handful of smaller stuff working. Electrical funny business!
The AC seems to have some pressure in it. I pushed on the hose fittings and heard a hiss. No idea how much is in there. The drier on the front of the car however has bubbles in it. I'm assuming this means the freon is low and there's a leak somewhere. Any tips or tricks? I'm going to bring it into a mechanic on Monday to see if there's anything I can do.
