Replacing Rear Window Regulator

A rear window on an 95 S 420 was stuck in the down position. The switch moved the window unp and down a fourth inch.

I started to replace the regulator. I have removed the inner door cover; the speaker , the window motor, but now see the foam insulation. I have slit this cover in the middle to see the regulator, but don't know if this is how to procede.

How do I remove parts of this foam batting. It is held on with the most sticky take I have every dealt with.

Aslo instead of rivets can I use bolts and nuts to hold the regulator.

The All track data tell me to put the window in the arrested postion when I remove the regulator.

What does this mean.

I just replaced my regulator on a similar car. What I did was slit around the door starting on one side going down and over and then up and then I skinned the cover off the door whit a blade and then once finished glued it back on and taped the slit.

I used rivets not bolts just o keep original. The rivet gun was only $12 and a box of rivets for $4 which I have only used 7 out off.

There are some places that may rent you the rivet gun if you don't want to buy it.

I am not sure of what position you are talking about, I moved it around until I got the best position to pull that darn broken regulator out of my door and slip in the new one.

Good Luck
