I want to buy the manual(s) for an '87 560SL. I've seen on a web page manuals for:
(1) Chassis & Body, Series 107. Covers '72 to '89. $50
(2) Heating, A/C, Auto Climate Control, 107. Again covers 350SL to 560SL. $25
(3) Manuals for 107 engines except for the 5.6L.
Also listed is: Electrical Troubleshooting Manual (no description, no price).
Maintenance Manual (no description, no price).
These are through MBNA Tech Manual Order Line: 1-800-367-6372
My question is, is there a manual that deals with just 560SL, or are these the ones (above) I should get? I definitely want the electrical and A/C diagrams.

MB has manuals for cars that are out of circulation/production on CD. (W124, W201, etc) One CD is ultra complete for about $100. However they only made a few on sort of a "test run". If enough people got together and bugged them to kick up production of those service CD's they might, but you know those stubborn germans...so don't hold your breath.

Try calling 1-800-for-merc(edes). They should be able to help you get the C.D.

Actually, I would prefer the paper manuals--any comments on where to get them, and which ones I need?

Thanks for the replies.

I have not seen a 560SL specific manual of any sort. You will need an ETM for the 107 chassis. I believe it is for 86 and newer 107's there is a separate manual for the climate control that includes the electrical diagrams. However the ETM does also include the diagrams for the A/C.

As to paper manuals...The idea is to provide a vast amount of data on one CD. With a PC and a laserjet printer (preferrably one with duplexing...printing on both sides) you can print your own manuals. If you don't have one available check with a local print/copy shop. You can provide them with the appropriate file or even the CD and they should be able print them for you (for a cost I'm sure). I haven't received my CD yet so I cannot atest to the quality...but then again, this is a Mercedes CD!

Michael,

Have you received your CD yet? I'd like to know if it meets your expectations as I'm considering going that route.

On the other hand, there are paper manuals for sale from a private party (eBay) that includes 4 Service Manuals:

Chassis & Body Model 107 Vol 1 & 2
V8 Engine 116.xx (4.2L) 117.9xx
Heating A/C Auto Climate Cntl Model 107

Current bid is $90. I called MBNA and they only show one Chassis & Body manual????

For Benzmac, Lee, MB Doc, or anyone else in the know: Will the CD include all the above manuals as well as the Maintenance & Electrical Troubleshooting manuals? As I mentioned before, I really want the wiring and A/C diagrams.

Thanks for providing such a great site!

They should contain everything. MB waits until a model is out of production and all known "bugs" are well documented before producing a CD ROM for that model. The CD comes in *I think* Adobe Acrobat format. You just print out what you are working on for the job. That way if you slop oil on the paper the manual isn't ruined.

Hope this helps...Lee
