1994 S124 crank but no start.

I have a 1994 e320 wagon, 149k
It sat for about a year. Was running when I parked it.
This is what I have done so far..
Poured fuel stabilizer in the gas tank
Replaced the fuel pump
Replaced the fuel filter
Took the cover off of the fuel pump relay (green) and reinstalled but wedged the contact
Swapped the blue and green relays
Swapped the 4 year old OPV relay for one I had lying around, however it was a bit weathered.
I have sprayed starter fluid into the throttle body and in which case the car tries to start but with a very rough idle

I also noticed the original OPV was very hot when I took it off.

Prior to parking it, I upgraded the wiring harness, ETA, and replaced the e-gas cpu

Not really sure where to go from here. It seems the new fuel pump is not priming.

Does the fuel pump run when for 1-3 seconds when the key is first turned to the run position? Have someone turn the key while you listen to it near the right rear wheel. Is there definitely gasoline in the tank? Don't rely on the gauge.

Keep us posted and good luck!!!

I don't have anyone to help me at the moment. I'll put some gas in it later and see what that does.

Do you still have the original biodegradable engine wiring harness installed?

No I uprgraded it to a 98.

I just put some gas in it, however I went to put the original OPV back in but noticed it was full of water. Has to be my problem. Probably explains why it was getting so hot. Could this have shorted anything else out?

Just got a practically brand new OVP relay from the local UPAP for a whopping $1.51. Hopefully it does the trick.

Alright so, got her running. Let her warm up, took her for a easy drive for about 2 miles then let her rip to burn off some of that old gas. It redlines at about 4k before it even gets a chance to switch into high-gear. What would cause that?

if its not one thing, its two! thanks for the details on troubleshooting and that cure all OVP is amazing. Now on the trans I had a 95 E320 which had been sitting and lost reverse gear. Adding fluid helped, then change outs with castrol hi mileage fluid and trans X additive brought back reverse, then it vanished again and finally I discovered Blue Devil sealer which is a seal revival additive labeled as stop leak. Again reverse gear came back from the dead.

On one occasion I overfilled the trans and reverse was strong but I lost the forward gears and got flaring. Then it slipped in forward gears badly and overheated. I reduced the fluid levels and all was well.

Also had issues with the vacuum modulator valve..

I cant say on the trans failing to shift but just add the info for what its worth and also comment that I swear by pentosin fluid which I changed out to for the end use..Im not trans expert but I know how sensitive to fluid condition and levels they are.

Best of luck! Keep posting what you find.

That transmission doesn't fail to shift as long as i go easy. Reverse gear does seem a bit more delayed so that's obviously from the sitting as you say, but other then that the transmission feels solid. It's definitely a engine issue.
