2001SLK Turn Signal Replacement Hints?
 

I picked up a rock that broke my drivers side turn signal lens. I got a new turn signal light assembly and it is apparent that the entire headlight unit will have to come out, but I don't know the trick. I pulled loose the grille and top bolt of the lower valance which allows it to come out part way. Am I going to have to remove the entire valance to get it out, or is there another way?

If anyone knows the secret, please share.
