Blowing interior fuse
Hi guys/gals...
Driving 1999 e55 amg w210 with 200k. Consistently blowing the fuse for the license plate lights on the interior fuse block of the headlight module. My Indy was convinced it was the module and since the switch was loose I said ok and so the headlight switch module is brand new...ref part number 545 01 21 04 .... Anyway drive away with same issue....lights not working and light filaments look good...now my baby is in an electric shop...day 3 today....help help.... Lyle:( |
I'd suspect you have a pinched wire or the insulation rubbed off somewhere that's allowing a wire to short to the chassis.

Pull the passenger side lower trunk lining out and examine the wires the run down the trunk hinge cover. You most likely have insulation worn from years of opening and closing trunk. This is very common W210 hick-up. This is why they didn't run a wire to inside brake lights on US models you just have a dummy hole.....or its been said anyways:D
