C230 Sunroof removal/replacement
Just bought a 1998 C230 and while it is in real good condition, I didn't get any service records from the seller.
I am trying to go through all the things I can think of that need lubing, etc and one of them is the sunroof. It works fine but I'd like to be able to take the glass out to lube the mechanism real well. In the repair manual, Mercedes lists 2 specialty tools that one uses to realign the roof after working on it and I'm hoping that isn't really necessary and removing the glass without disturbing anything will allow me to put it back together OK. Does anyone have any experience/recommendations? |

I can't answer the question, but my unsolicited advice is leave it alone. I have never heard of one wearing out. You will have enough actual problems to address probably.

Removing the roof panel is over-kill. Just make sure the sliding jaws are lubed once a year or so..............
