going topless

I have 1995 E320 cabrio which I replaced the right side small hydraulic cylinder due to leak. It controls the rear section of folding top. After replacement cycled top half a dozen times worked fine. Next day top would not go down switch just flashes. can I pull codes somehow to diagnose top

You can read the fault codes for your top. You use the same code reader that you should have for the Pin 8 and Pin 14 engine diagnostics.

The code reader will need to be connected to Socket 2 of the 4-socket connector (X11/12) Power Soft top test connection. The connection is located at the right front passenger footwell. From the inside, it's under the carpet against the firewall and under the steel panel. To avoid the need for an extension cable, connect the black lead of code scanner to any good ground and red lead to a battery + source inside vehicle."

You may want to take a look at this thread:

Afterthoughts:

- Are you operating the top with the engine running? My top will not operate properly unless the engine is running... not enough electricity.

- The problem may be with the switch at the RH side corner of the top. It may have been knocked out of alignment.

Anyhow, it would be a big help to read the codes specific for the top.
