Question Backfiring Issue

I have a 2012 ML350 4Matic with about 51,000 miles on it. I am the second owner.

I noticed that on a warm restart there is a mild backfire, just a low poof. Doesn't do it on a cold start; and ambient temperatures have no effect, i.e., it does it on practically all warm restarts.

What's going on? I talked to the substitute service manager (scheduler); he wasn't sure.

Thanks in advance.

Tom

Hello and welcome to the forum! Have you had the CEL come on or has it thrown any codes? The dealer should be able to diagnose it and pull any codes; which will give you a definitive answer as to what is causing it to backfire.

No CEL. Good idea; I have a code reader if the M-B has an easy access plug-in.

Thanks,

Tom

Generic OBD2 or Mercedes specific? The generic OBD2 readers aren't too useful unless there's an emissions system problem.

It's a generic one. I'd better stop in to see the dealer$$$
