ABS BAS ESP Lights Issue Check-list

Hi,
I have read so many forums regarding this inherited issue of w210 (ABS BAS ESP Lights pop-up). To help precisely and easy to follow steps for any current or future victim, I shall be really grateful if some of us can make a final check-list regarding this issue, starting from:
1- Replacing the Brake Switch
2- Re-flowing or finally replacing K-40 Relay
3- Confirming correct behavior of all 3 Brake lights
4-
5-
6-
7-
8-
9-
10-

Thanks!

Hi,
We are talking here about generalized kind of few major possible issues, when ABS|BAS|ESP lights suddenly appear in W210 from 1998-2002 (or any other related models)

Most Possible Issues:
1- ABS|BAS|ESP lights suddenly appear on dash, while driving
a) Lights go OFF, when doing lock to lock steering rotation (full left - full right - center)
b) Or, lights remain ON, when doing lock to lock steering rotation (full left - full right - center)
2- Lights, instantly appear on pressing brake paddle.
3-
4-
5-

Let me re-arrange the list based on your expert inputs:

1- Get your vehicle scanned (if possible), proceed accordingly.
2- Replacing the Brake Switch
3- Confirming correct working of ABS pump's motor (using a stethoscope or hold hand on ABS pump's motor while someone starts the engine)
4- Re-flowing or finally replacing K-40 Relay
5- Confirming correct behavior of all 3 Brake lights
6-
7-
8-
9-
10-

Thanks!

If the ESP/ABS/BAS faults occur in the same location(s), check your outer tie rods.

Late last year I began throwing ESP/ABS/BAS codes on the exact same stretch of road. It was so predictable that I could tell a passenger, "watch this: 3...2...1.. Boom" and the lights would illuminate.

During that time, one of my outer tie rods became really worn and bent. The star on my steering wheel, when traveling in a straight line, was off-center, at about 1:00 instead of 12:00. If I was on a banked road, I would need to turn the steering wheel further to the right (about 2:00) to keep the car from drifting to the left.

If this happened above about 70mph -- which was the case where/when my errors occurred -- the steering angle sensor would trigger the ESP/ABS/BAS, evidently because it considered the speed/steering wheel position implausible. After replacing the worn tie rod, the problem was resolved.

EDIT: Additional sign are if the yellow ESP triangle suddenly begins flickering on some sweeping turns at lower speeds (when in the past it never happened). This was also eliminated after the defective tie rod was replaced.

i had this happen to me for the first time tonight. I have a 2000 e430 and I going down an extremely steep driveway and a terrible angle into the road my front chin spoiler even scraped . BEEEP there were those 2 lights! arg I had this happen on my c230 and it was brake switch I figured that out because the brake lamps were out. well my brake lamps still work on my e430. But the lights went away after a restart? Sooo hmmmm
