1992 300te power seat does not move in any direction
Hello,
I have a 1992 300te, the driver seat does not move in any direction. I have replaced both the switch and the brain and have confirmed they both have continuity. I am able to cross the wires at the door plug wires and get the seat to move. Ive also tried three different door switches which I have confirmed all have continuity when engaging the switch and using a meter. Is there anything else I can check. |
If the seat is working when you jumper the wires together at the plug that attaches to the switch, the switch is the only thing that can be your problem. They have a habit of getting a layer of oxide on the contacts and preventing operation. Disassembling the switch is not for the faint of heart, but can be done and will restore normal function.

I agree with you 100%. But I have tried 3 different switches, and I have confirmed that there is continuity on the switches.

Continuity is all well and good, but if the switch doesn't make enough of a connection to properly pull down the circuits in question, the device won't work. The switch is doing nothing more than connecting two points, exactly as your jumper wire does. If it works with the jumper, but not with the switch, you know where the problem lies.

I put them in a clear plastic bag for disassembly (to old to spend an afternoon on my knees tying to find the last piece).
For reassembling, I screw the body of the switch to a heavy piece of wood. If you put that on a stable workbench, that way all the parts stay in place and it is very easy to press the top on. Rob |
