Gas pump shuts Off when filling C230k

Hi, Have a 1999 c230k, when you go to fill the car you get about a 1/4gal in and it shuts off let gas settle another 1/4gal and so on. Dove car this morning about 7miles to station so car was not hot the temp here was about 40deg. This has been going on for a few months tried other stations same thing. It will take like a half hour to file car.
Thanks for looking and your help.

As a temporary solution see if you can try pulling the nozzle part way out or turning it at different angles. It helps let the air out as you fill the tank. I've never had this issue on my 202 but on other cars it has usually come from the vent that runs up by the filler tube being blocked or the main filler tube having a kink.

this problem is caused by the evap vent valve on the rear of the car, its in open state when the engine is not running and allows air to pass as the tank fills up

I see the following parts listed.
Regeneration Valve - Fuel Vapor Recovery
or Purge Valve for Fuel Vapor Canister

Is it one of these ? Thanks

Update:Still having issue with filling car, went back and looked at reply's and saw that there maybe a difference if the car was running while filling. I took the car to the same station and pump I have been using and left the car running and it never shut off. went back to the same place shut the car off took about 20mins. to put in about 4gals. Went back a few days later and left car running filled and the pump never shut off. Thanks for any feed back
