560sl
First time post, nice to say hello
I have an 87 560sl been sitting forever so I am going through and cleaning up the fuel delivery systems. I have all the fuel pumps out and have drained the tank and want to replace the tank strainer. I have removed the output line 19mm and I am at the point where I need the 46mm socket to remove the strainer from the tank. Unfortunately this is my situation as you can see I can not even come close to get a socket on this. Am I forced to completely remove this tank just to get to the strainer? Thanks https://www.dropbox.com/s/32yyypy36g...iner.jpg?raw=1 |
TRy just loosening the tank mounts so you can center the big not.

I want to take a flipping hole saw to it :)
Thinking about taking a bolt and screwing in in with thread locker on it let it set and try and back everything out. only thing holding me up ready to move forward https://www.dropbox.com/s/3u6rg8ckae...umps.jpg?raw=1 |
I have the socket its just miss aligned so I can not engage it

Word of caution on fitting the new screen. Those threads are really fine and easy to cross thread. Maybe try a cone wrench if you can find a big enough.

Thanks for the tip, I am just taking a beer break before I start some more cussing
