Does the W203 C230 sedan use fiber optics?
Hello, new here..
I searched elsewhere in this board but found only limited information. I took my C230 to a tint place to get some tints replaced and inquired how much a new infotainment system would cost. They said it depended on whether the car had fiber optics; which he said he believed W203s have. Is there a way I can find out for sure (short of calling a dealer?) |

Hello and welcome to the forum! Do you have the standard radio or the upgraded version in your W203? I believe the upgraded version has everything looped in through the fiber optics cable - other members should confirm this.

It depends on the model year. I believe that 2002-03 model 203 had it. What year is your car?

If you have a Bose stereo you have fiber which includes 2 oh speakers all of which will have to be replaced. If you don't have Bose then your speakers are compatible with most generic amps and head unit. All w203s are wired with the fiber optic loop but it's not utilised on non Bose cars.

Hi thanks; the car is a 2005 Kompressor sedan, bone stock. I really want a bluetooth stereo but I don't want to compromise on the steering wheel controls

There were 2 bone stock stereo. A generic unbranded stereo and a Bose option. It depends on which one you have. The Bose stereo has a little Bose logo on the front door speaker covers.
