500 SEL Question!
I am trying to help a friend with a problem on his 1981 500SEL(grey market car). I beleive it is just the rear windows that do not work. He said he tryed the operating switch and nothing happened but when inducing power directley to the regulator motor they work great! Is there a relay in there somewhere?
thanks for your help

I do not know for sure about grey market but why would it be any different?
The circuit is designed for the Driver's front and the Passenger rear on the same circuit and vise-versa. if both of the rear windows do not operate, try the lockout switch on the center console and see if it is hooked up. That is what it is designed to do: keep little ones from opening the rear windows.

I'm not sure, but there might be a child lock-out switch on the central console. If so, locking it might have caused the problem.
Just a thought. |
