Can anyone tell me how to install the drivers side windshield gasket on my 190E ? I have one missing and I can't seem to figure out how to install it. It runs from the roof to the hood and is a thick piece of black rubber. It looks like you need to remove the trim that goes across the roof and comes down the windshield. Anyone ever try this or should I go and have it done?

Thanks,

The windshield is "glued" to the car. I think you are describing the "A" pilar trim. It's not a difficult job, the entire trim across the roof comes off easy, use new retaining clips to hold the trim to the roof.

That is what it is. It is the rubber piece between the glass and the metal post. I can see some clips that hold it in but it gets too tight at the top to fit in without removing the piece of trim that goes from the windshield across the roof and down the back glass. How can this piece be removed?

Thanks for your help,

Chris Prestridge

Most M.B. techs have several plastic wedges for prying on trim parts, you'll need one of these to remove the roof/A-pillar trim. Start at the rearmost section & pry up on the trim, BE CAREFUL!
