1990 W201 M103 (190e 2.6L) CODE 13

1990 190e 2.6L

209k miles

check engine light on

LED flashes 13

Code Description : Air Intake Temperature Sensor

The vehicle is new to me. I typically work on diesels. I am just now familiarizing myself with M103's, M104's and M110's.

Soon as I opened the hood I noticed the intake boot was missing between the scoop and the air cleaner housing.

Is this where the temperature sensor is supposed to be?

I found a connector and wiring hanging loose near this area.

Mystery soon to be solved...

Anyone have a boot and sensor for sale?

There's a hole on the plastic duct/scoop that the sensor keys into. The boot should be available new from the dealer cheaply if you can't find a used one. Most that you find in the JY are dried up and cracked.

Interested to see if a new one will cure this .

You're right about that, Sir. I spent an afternoon scouring my favorite MB salvage yard and the only thing I came out of there with was a sunburn on my head!

Has anyone purchased an aftermarket replacement with what they are satisfied?

My search came up with this one:

I'm curious if anyone here has purchased one of these and is happy with it

The link you provided is for a genuine part and at nearly full MSRP. You would probably do better ordering from your local dealer to avoid the cost of shipping or parts[dot]com. I didn't know these were so expensive. The plastic scoop at the front is about $10.

I'll take your advise and contact my local dealer.

I appreciate your input.
