manual raise/lower seat slk merc 200

Hi, The seats will not raise/lower, is there a gas cylinder that gives trouble,if so how to go about testing it. thanks. fastfree.:

Maybe you have to nudge the seat forward to raise and backward to lower as with older manual seats.
