1995 C36 AMG what is this thing on the dash?

Hey all, I am active on the vintage portion of these boards but am thinking of buying a C36 that has come to market in my area. One question I have is about an odd knob on the upper dash just right of the emergency flashers. I attached a photo below.
Also any advice or insight into these models would be great! Cheers, Bill |
Looks like they added a manual heater / AC blower control.

Does it go through the panel? It might be a magnetic mobile phone holder.
