560 sl not riding level

I recently purchased a 560 sl that appears to be in very good shape. I've had to replace the water pump, ignition wires, belts, hoses, and fuel filter, but that's it. It doesn't leak or burn oil and shifts smoothly. However, I have noticed that the car lists to the right side. That is its lower on the right than on the left by about 1". I thought it was the rear springs and went ahead and replaced them myself, but that didn't make any difference. The car doesn't look like its been in an accident since it handles very nicely. What other things could cause this lean?

Thanks,

Steve

PS. Lean seems to change and sometimes dissapear after a drive, but this may be my immagination.

SLS?

Welcome SMS! I have not experienced your problem but maybe try doing a search on sls (self-leveling suspension), good place to start in my opinion.

Anyone else have any idea what might be causing this problem?

Doesn't this car have a rear subframe? If so, a bad (or missing) subframe bushing might be the culprit.

NO sls in that car.

Perhaps you should cut back on the burgers? :D :D

Just kidding

Or does it lean the other way?

Haasman,

It's an '87 560 sl and is sitting lower on the passenger side than on the driver's side.
