W124 factory Cell Phone stuck on killing bat! Removal?

Today, and I think previously, the factory cell phone in my 1992 300CE was cycling on/off both before and after cutting the car off with the key., and would have killed the battery if left that way.

I pulled the fuse box cover, but could not find a fuse that had "phone" listed. I pulled #4 (radio) but the phone did not die! I pulled the neg batt cable to kill it.

Anyone have any idea which fuse it should be?

Also, the phone and/or security system has a nasty habit of locking the car by itself!

I sure would like to delete the phone, is there a "module" somewhere to unplug/remove in addition to the handset in the center console?

The darned thing interfaces to a speaker, very annoying repeated loud beeping when the phone goes into hysterics.

The car does have an operational aftermarket radio, but the phone still feeds into a speaker somehow.

Any help would be appreciated.

Mine had a main unit in the trunk where the speakers live. Unplugged it.

If the doors lock on their own there might be an aftermarket security system involved.

Thanks,all,

I did find the phone electronics unit in the trunk near where the drivers side rear speaker is, it was hidden behind an aftermarket CD changer. Annoying phone tone seems to be gone after disconnecting!

There is still some sort of security present, horn and lights went off when I reconnected the battery. I have a key hidden outside in case it self locks again.

Look on the bright side, if the phone sticks on, at least you can call someone for help! ;)
