Freeon

If I turn on AC for a while then shut it off and then turn it back on, I can smell very heavy freeon, is it normal? On a 99 C230 with 24k.

Freon is a colorless, orderless gas, which by the way hasn't been used in automobiles since 1991 or so.

BTW R134a (also known to Dupont as "Suva") is also a colorless, odorless gas and is stuck inside the confines of the system in 1992 and newer MBs.

Hey, I'm gonna use that next time to describe a leak...

" Ma'am, the problem seems to be The mechanics of the system will no longer allow the gas to stay stuck within the confines of the system..yeah . "
